Scholastic Book Review: Sound Bender

Do your kids enjoy stories that have to do with unexplained phenomena like mine do?  If so, they will love Sound Bender, a new Scholastic Book written by Lin Oliver and Theo Baker which is due for release this November.

In Sound Bender you will meet Leo Lomax, a young teen who discovers he has a rare sensory gift after he loses his parents in a tragic accident.  Leo deeply connects with sound in a way that is both mystical and beautiful.  Co-authors Lin Oliver and Theo Baker found a way to pull the reader deep into Leo's sound bending experiences as if they were really there.

I truly enjoyed this book as much as my children did!

Review: Casper the Friendly Ghost: The Complete Collection 1945-1963

Halloween is upon us!  With this season my family likes to watch our favorite DVD's to help get us in a "spooky" mood. ;-)  This year we are thrilled to have added the new Casper the Friendly Ghost: The Complete Collection 1945 - 1963 to our Halloween play list.  My husband and I both grew up watching Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoons on television; they are a fond memory from our childhoods that we are happy to share with our children today.  We love that Casper cartoons are not scary or gory and that they all have a positive message... this is a rare when it comes to Halloween programs!

The new Casper the Friendly Ghost DVD Collection arrived in stores October 11, 2011 in the nick of time for Halloween. This comprehensive 3-disc DVD set includes all 81 cartoons created between 1945-1963 (WOW!), plus several bonus features. 


This is a must have for Casper fans!
