Homework

Written by my friend Teodoro Martin

My son is driving me insane with his homework. He has a mountain of work to get done in the next month. He has a project in math, and a project in science. In math, he has to do a collage of fractions found in the real world (like recipes, building instructions, gas prices, etc), a puppet show where all the characters are different fractions, and finally a power point presentation with 5 different fraction problems and answers on them. First of all, I think these projects themselves are annoying, but whatever. Second of all, he’s known about this for a week now and has done nothing on it. He comes home from school, plays outside with his friends, and does his chores, and then he just wants to zone out in front of directtv Seattle. Can you blame him, though? I really wish homework didn’t exist for kids. They spend 7 hours a day at school, and I think when they get home they should get to just play and be kids and relax.
